1. What does Cc or “Carbon Copy” mean in an email?

When you use Cc or Carbon copy to send an email, it means that you are sending a copy of the message to several people, in addition to the main recipient. Recipients listed in the “Cc” or “Carbon Copy” field receive a copy of the message, although it is not addressed to them directly. This option is used to keep people informed without waiting for their return. It also allows you to see who else received a copy of the original email.

To use the Cc function on Gmail, the principle is simple:

  1. You just need you login to your account Gmail first.
  2. Then tap the pencil icon at the top left of your page to open a new message.

The acronyms Bcc or “Copy Carbone Invisible” or Bcc “Blinc Carbon Copy” in English is another field of recipients but which remains very little used by followers of the Gmail platform. This feature is available on both Google and Microsoft email services such as Outlook. Concretely, this option allows you to send a copy of a message to one or more people without the main recipient noticing.

  • Do Bcc recipients see each other?

By putting several people in Bcc, each will have the impression of being the only recipient of the email. They will therefore have no visibility of the sending addresses. Thus, the sharing of information is done in the most discreet way possible and the anonymity of the correspondents is preserved!

  • How to send a group email by hiding the addresses on Gmail?

As you will have understood, Gmail allows you to send emails by hiding the addresses of certain recipients thanks to the use of “Bcc”. To do this, first go to a new message on Gmail.

  2. Click “Cancel”!

And that’s not all: you also have the possibility of selecting the duration during which the recall of your message is possible. For that :

  1. Open your Gmail account on your PC.
  2. Then go to the settings at the top right.
  3. Next to the “Cancel Send” option, you will have the possibility to choose a cancellation delay which can be 5, 10,20 or 30 seconds.
