JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. (TCD) — Police announced on Wednesday the arrest of a 61-year-old man who allegedly killed a young Microsoft executive just after Valentine’s Day while his young daughter was sitting in the car.
According to Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith, on February 16, 2022, Jared Bridegan took his then 9-year-old twins and 2-year-old daughter out for dinner. He dropped the twins off at his ex-wife’s house and was ‘driving in a dark area’ when he allegedly noticed a tire on the road. Bridegan reportedly stopped the car, turned on its hazard lights and got out to “presumably move the tire off the road”.
Smith said Bridegan was then “shot in cold blood” and called the shooting a “planned and targeted ambush”.
Bridegan’s daughter, who was still in the car, remained unharmed. The suspect wouldn’t have stolen anything from Bridegan either.
Smith said the tire “was put there on purpose to make it stop.”
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Smith revealed that detectives arrested a man named Henry Tenon in connection with the murder of Bridegan for conspiracy to commit murder, second degree murder, child abuse and complicity after kick.
State’s Attorney Melissa Nelson also spoke at the event on Wednesday and said Tenon’s affidavit would be sealed for 30 days, but she provided some details about the charges. Nelson said Tenon is charged with conspiracy to commit murder because investigators “know that Henry Tenon did not act alone.”
In addition, he faces the charge of child abuse because the little girl “was in danger”.
Nelson said she would also seek a first-degree murder indictment against him.
Police are still searching for a Ford F-150 pickup truck they believe was involved in Bridegan’s murder.
The Florida Times-Union reports Tenon has been in custody for several months already on drug-related charges.
