CLEVELAND (TCD) — A 41-year-old man is being held on $5 million bail after he allegedly shot and killed four family members and seriously injured an 8-year-old girl.
According to WJW-TV, On Friday, January 13, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a man reportedly flagged Cleveland police officers to report that several people had been shot inside a home in the 3700 block of Mack Court in the Brooklyn Center neighborhood. Officers reportedly arrived and later called for reinforcements when they discovered five victims inside.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to hospital, where another victim died.
Police arrested the suspect, Martin Muniz, on suspicion of homicide.
Cleveland.com Reports the victims are Muniz’s father, Miguel Gonzalez, 69, Muniz’s sister, Angelic Gonzalez, 34, his nephew, Jayden Baez, 16, and Anthony Boothe, 48. The 8-year-old is believed to be Boothe’s daughter and she remains hospitalized.
Muniz allegedly shot all the victims in the head in different rooms of the house.
As part of his bond conditions, Muniz is not allowed to have contact with the 8-year-old.
Cuyahoga County District Attorney’s Office Charged Muniz on 25 counts, including four counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder, eight counts of murder, 10 counts of felony assault and one count of having disabled weapons.
According to Cleveland.com, members of Muniz’s family who are still alive reportedly did not attend his hearing because they “never want to see him again”. When he heard that, he would have laughed.
