DUXBURY, Mass. (TCD) — A third child died in hospital days after a Plymouth County mother allegedly strangled her other two children to death and attempted suicide.
On Tuesday January 24, Duxbury Police attended a house in Summer Street after a man called to report his wife had jumped out of the window. Tim Cruz, Plymouth District Attorney said at a press conference first responders arrived and located three young children “unconscious with obvious signs of trauma”.
The children and their mother were all taken to hospitals, where the 5-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy were pronounced dead. They were later identified as Cora and Dawson Clancy. The third child, a 7-month-old boy, was airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital for treatment.
According to Mass Live, 8-month-old baby Callan Clancy died Friday, January 27 at 11:18 a.m.
Cruz later identified the mother as Lindsay Clancy and said there was a warrant issued for his arrest on two counts of homicide, three counts of strangulation, three counts of assault and three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Cruz said Clancy was “in custody.”
It was not immediately clear whether Lindsay Clancy would face additional charges following Callan’s death.
Mass Live reports that Clancy worked at Massachusetts General Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse. The hospital told the outlet in a statement: “We are shocked and saddened to learn of this unthinkable tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by these devastating events. »
On Saturday, January 28, Lindsay’s husband, Patrick Clancy, wrote a lengthy statement on a GoFundMe page which raises funds to help cover medical expenses, funerals and legal services. Patrick described each child in detail. He said Cora had an “infectious laugh and was stunningly beautiful”, while Dawson was “naturally humorous and generous beyond the norm of a typical toddler”.
Patrick said Callan, the youngest, “always knew how to heal me”.
He wrote: “As excruciating as it may be, I was blessed and grateful to feel her warmth until her very last moment. Faith is my only hope to believe he felt mine. »
Patrick also touched on his relationship with Lindsay in his statement.
Patrick wrote: “She has recently been portrayed largely by people who have never met her and who never knew who the real Lindsay was. Our marriage was wonderful and grew stronger as his condition rapidly worsened. I was as proud to be her husband as I was being a father and I always felt lucky to have him in my life. »
He called on others to “find deep inside to forgive Lindsay, like I did.”
He shared, “The very fibers of his soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace. »
Patrick concluded his note, “Cora, Dawson and Callan, you have given me so much during your short stay here. I don’t know if the pain will ever go away, but I’ll do my best to carry on in your honor. . Dada loves you so much and will always remember you. »
